For the past 20 years the UN has recognized March 22 as World Water Day, celebrating water and bringing international attention to issues regarding the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
In Toronto, World Water Day is making a splash with water-themed events taking place across the city!
- Catch a flick at Water Docs from March 21–29 exploring topics from the Asian carp invasion to fracking and its effect on water
- Head to Evergreen Brick Works in the Valley and explore efforts to bring Atlantic Salmon in Lake Ontario from local extinction, go on a water-themed tour and more
- Join Environmental Defence at the ROM and take the Water Day Challenge
Home to Lake Ontario and the Don Watershed, Toronto has a lot to be thankful for and celebrate when it comes to freshwater. So checkout an event, get outside and get to know your watershed!
